FAQS
What makes Adamson Martin Therapeutics different from a standard med spa?
Adamson Martin Therapeutics is 100% physician-owned and physician-led. Two board-certified physicians are permanently on staff, providing direct oversight of treatments and patient care.
Do physicians oversee my treatment?
Yes. Our physicians are directly involved in evaluating, planning, administering, and monitoring treatments provided at the practice.
Are all treatments appropriate for everyone?
No. Treatment suitability depends on your individual health circumstances, goals, medical history, and the specific therapy being considered. Your physician will determine appropriate options during your care.
What is the difference between Ketamine Infusions and Spravato®?
Both involve esketamine or ketamine-based treatment approaches, but they are different therapies. Ketamine infusions are delivered intravenously, while Spravato® is an FDA-approved esketamine nasal spray administered under direct physician supervision.
What happens during my first visit?
Your visit begins with a consultation focused on understanding your needs and goals. Your physician can then discuss appropriate treatment options and develop a personalized plan when treatment is appropriate.
Are appointments required?
Yes. Visits are scheduled in advance so our physicians can provide each patient with personalized attention.
How do I schedule a consultation?
You can request an appointment through our consultation form. Our team can help you take the next step toward discussing your care with a physician.
Will my treatment plan be personalized?
Our approach is centered on individualized care. Treatment options and protocols are considered according to your needs, goals, and clinical circumstances.
Can I ask questions about a treatment before deciding?
Absolutely. A consultation is an opportunity to discuss the treatment, understand what to expect, and address questions or concerns with your physician.
Where do you provide care?
Adamson Martin Therapeutics provides physician-led care in Columbus, Indiana, serving patients in the surrounding Bartholomew and Jackson County communities.
What services does AMT offer?
Our planned services include IV ketamine, SPRAVATO® (esketamine), selected medical infusions, PRP hair and facial procedures, and medically supervised wellness care. Contact us to learn which services are currently available.
Who may benefit from ketamine treatment?
Ketamine may be considered for carefully selected adults with depression that has not improved adequately with other treatments, or certain persistent pain conditions. An evaluation helps determine whether treatment is appropriate. Evidence and expected benefits vary by condition.
Is ketamine FDA-approved?
Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. IV ketamine treatment for depression and chronic pain is “off-label,” meaning it is used for a purpose outside its FDA-approved indications. We explain the evidence, alternatives, and risks before treatment.
How is SPRAVATO different from IV ketamine?
SPRAVATO contains esketamine and is administered as a nasal spray under medical supervision. It is FDA-approved for specific adult depression indications. IV ketamine is delivered through an intravenous line and is used off-label for depression. The treatments have different eligibility requirements and schedules.
What are the benefits of IV Ketamine vs. Spravato?
IV Ketamine
- Rapid Relief
- Higher Response Rates
- Customizable Dosing
Spravato
- Intranasal Administration
- Covered By Insurance
- FDA Approved
How does Ketamine and Spravata compare to tradtional antidepressants?
Both ketamine treatments work far faster than traditional antidepressants, but IV ketamine demonstrated superior efficacy and speed in this real-word clinical setting.
What happens at my initial consultation?
We review your symptoms, medical and mental-health history, medications, previous treatments, and goals. We discuss suitable options and answer your questions. AMT’s initial ketamine consultation is complimentary; completing a consultation does not obligate you to proceed.
What does ketamine treatment feel like?
You may feel relaxed, sleepy, or temporarily disconnected from your usual sense of time or surroundings. Some people experience changes in perception or uncomfortable feelings. Tell the treatment team how you feel so they can support you and adjust care when needed.
How does AMT address safety?
Care begins with screening and informed consent. During treatment and recovery, the clinical team monitors you according to your treatment protocol. Physician oversight, trained staff, and emergency preparedness are central to our approach.
Will my treatment plan be personalized?
Our approach is centered on individualized care. Treatment options and protocols are considered according to your needs, goals, and clinical circumstances.
What are the possible side effects?
Possible effects include nausea, dizziness, sleepiness, changes in perception, and increased blood pressure or heart rate. Serious risks can include breathing problems and psychiatric reactions. Repeated ketamine exposure can also involve bladder or liver problems, and ketamine carries a risk of misuse. We review risks specific to your health and treatment plan.
How long will my appointment take?
Appointment length depends on the treatment and includes preparation, administration, and recovery. SPRAVATO requires at least two hours of monitoring after each dose, with discharge based on clinical readiness. We will explain the expected visit length before scheduling.
How many treatments will I need?
Your schedule depends on the treatment, your condition, and your response. Some patients receive an initial series followed by reassessment. Maintenance treatment may be considered when benefits justify continued care.
Are results guaranteed?
No. Some patients improve, while others experience limited or no benefit. We track symptoms, daily functioning, and side effects to help decide whether treatment should continue or another approach would be better.
Can I drive afterward?
Arrange for a responsible adult to take you home. Do not drive or operate machinery after treatment. Follow your discharge instructions about when to resume these activities; after SPRAVATO, this means waiting until the next day after a restful sleep.
Should I stop my medications or avoid eating before treatment?
Do not stop or change prescribed medications on your own. Tell us about all medications, supplements, alcohol, cannabis, and other substances you use. We provide treatment-specific instructions about medications, food, and drinks before your appointment.
Does AMT offer counseling with ketamine treatment?
AMT plans to offer preparation and integration counseling through an appropriately licensed behavioral-health professional. Preparation helps you understand what to expect; integration supports reflection and practical steps afterward. Ask about availability. We can also coordinate with your existing therapist with your permission.
Will I continue seeing my psychiatrist, therapist, or primary-care clinician?
Yes. AMT’s specialty treatments are intended to fit into your broader care plan. Continue your established care unless your treating clinicians recommend changes.
Will insurance cover treatment?
Coverage depends on the service and your insurance plan. IV ketamine for depression is commonly self-pay. SPRAVATO may be covered for eligible patients, subject to authorization and AMT’s payer participation. We discuss expected charges before treatment; insurance coverage is not guaranteed.
How much does treatment cost?
Your initial ketamine consultation is complimentary. Other costs depend on the service and recommended treatment plan. Contact AMT for current pricing and an explanation of what is included.
How do I get started?
Contact AMT to request a consultation. Our team will explain the evaluation process, any records needed, and the next steps.
What if I need urgent mental-health help?
AMT is an outpatient clinic, and website inquiries are not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or cannot stay safe, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For suicide or emotional-crisis support, call or text 988.
